Premium wide-angle lens for Nikon F-mount systems with full frame sensors. Claimed by the manufacturer as the first device of its kind with a built-in image stabilizer, which facilitates handheld shooting at slow shutter speeds. Another feature is the f / 4.0 aperture, which is unchanged over the entire range of focal lengths. The mentioned range is 16-35 mm. The aperture has 9 blades, which provides a soft background blur when shooting. Autofocus drive — ultrasonic.

Nikon Europe has announced the launch of the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm F/4G ED VR, the world's first ultra wide-angle lens with vibration reduction for FX cameras. The novelty is a practical and inexpensive lens for everyday photography with FX format cameras, such as the D700.
The AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm F/4G ED VR has enough power for all kinds of wide-angle shooting. We created it to meet the demand for affordable alternatives to the professional AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED lenses and the newer AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lens.
Sharper photos when shooting at slow shutter speeds without a tripod
The AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm F/4G ED VR lens is the world's first wide-angle lens with vibration reduction technology to capture sharp images at slow shutter speeds. Thanks to this technology, the maximum allowable shutter speed under the given shooting conditions becomes four steps longer. VR technology is especially useful when shooting in low light conditions at full aperture (f/4).

The new lens uses a sophisticated optical design with Nikon's unique Nano Crystal anti-reflective coating, two ED glass elements and at least three aspherical glass elements to minimize distortion and aberration even at full aperture. The VR II system and silent ultrasonic drive virtually eliminate lens noise, while the nine rounded blade pattern delivers amazing bokeh.
Built for everyday use
The AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm F/4G ED VR is a great fit for relatively compact FX format cameras like the D700 and was designed specifically with everyday photography in mind. With a durable magnesium construction and dust and moisture resistance, this lens is a great choice for amateur and professional photographers with an active lifestyle.
