The ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 motherboard is one of the most affordable options with the B650 chipset, on which you can build a powerful PC with the new AM5 socket. The motherboard has all the necessary functionality for entry-level gaming computers with a budget of about 40,000 UAH, as well as good potential for subsequent upgrades. An 8+2+1 power supply circuit using VRMs, MOSFET transistors and cooling radiators is capable of ensuring stable operation of Ryzen 7000 / 8000 series processors. We are talking not only about basic 6-core chips, but also more advanced ones, for example, AMD Ryzen 9 Raphael 7900X for 12 cores. The ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 features PCIe 4.0 connectors for installing two corresponding graphics cards, the operation of which can be synchronized thanks to AMD Crossfire technology. The main PCI x16 slot is complemented by a metal casing for reliability and a gold-plated contact group for maximum throughput. The M.2 connector for SSDs with a PCIe 5.0 interface deserves special attention, although in practice it can only be called in demand for top-level assemblies. The board involves installing a combined Wi-Fi / Bluetooth module through a separate M.2 slot, which will expand the functionality of the PC. Among the shortcomings, we can note the complete absence of RGB connectors for mounting LED backlighting.

Important! Before assembling, be sure to check the BIOS version and update to the latest firmware. This can be done using a flash drive and a special Flashback button.

CPU

The AMD Ryzen 5 Raphael 7500F processor is considered the optimal starting point when building a mid-range PC, which is confirmed by various synthetic tests. The free multiplier completely frees up the hands of overclocking enthusiasts, although in normal mode the 6-core “stone” shows excellent results. The boost clock speed reaches 5 GHz and can last for quite a long time, since the processor is not prone to overheating. It operates without a graphics core with a TDP of 65 W, which at maximum does not exceed 100 W. The Ryzen 5 7500F is not only fast, but also cool. To cool it, the included AMD Wraith Stealth cooler will be enough, but for frequent and long gaming sessions it is better to pay attention to towers. The processor has 32 MB of Level 3 cache, which also increases the performance of the discrete video card. Some users may not like the RAM frequency limitation of 5200 MHz.

A combination of two 16 GB sticks works effectively in dual-channel mode and fully covers all user requests when using a motherboard with a limited number of DIMM slots. The fifth generation RAM (DDR5) is capable of overclocking up to 6000 MHz thanks to support for AMD's EXPO profiles. Enthusiasts can enjoy manual overclocking. Memory is an investment in the future and will allow you to get maximum efficiency even in a top-end assembly with appropriate support from the processor and motherboard. Stable temperature indicators are guaranteed by an aluminum radiator.

The Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600 XT GAMING OC 16G graphics card allows you to enjoy gaming in 4K resolution thanks to the updated RDNA 3 architecture (Navi 33 crystals) and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. But in practice, equipment for gaming in UHD is very expensive, and in build scales up to 40,000 there are certain limitations in components, so the optimal solution would be Full HD. However, the performance of the Radeon RX 7600 XT remains at a high level due to the built-in Infinity cache (32 MB), improved ray tracing and DLSS.

The Windforce cooling system includes thermal pads, aluminum heat dissipation plate, 5 direct contact copper tubes and 3 80mm fans. This set of measures prevents overheating and ensures a moderate noise level. The graphics adapter supports AMD proprietary technologies - Fluid Motion Frames, Image Sharpening, as well as AV1 encoding and scaling algorithms. In terms of software, the Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600 XT GAMING OC 16G operates on the latest (as of early 2024) versions of DirectX 12 Ultimate and OpenGL 4.6, which will allow you to get maximum effects when drawing each frame.

A power of 650 W is enough for a mid-level build with a margin of about 20 - 30%, so long-term loads will not lead to overheating. The power supply has received standard 80 PLUS certification. Its efficiency is not very high (85% at 50% load), but it is definitely stable thanks to active power factor correction (PFC). The internal components are cooled by a quiet 120 mm fan on a fluid dynamic bearing.

The Deepcool PF650 has all the necessary connectors for powering the motherboard, entry-level and mid-level processors and video cards with two 8 pin connectors. The safety of components is guaranteed by OPP, OVP, SCP, UVP protection systems, which show their effectiveness well in conditions of unstable power supply and in the absence of a separate UPS with a voltage stabilizer.

The WD Blue SN580 WDS100T3B0E SSD stands out from many competitors with its reliability and efficiency as part of a PC gaming build. The Blue series is not top-end, but the manufacturer has focused on increasing read and write speeds (4150 MB/s in both cases) due to SLC cache with nCache 4.0 technology, which has a positive effect on processing large amounts of data. The memory is well suited for working with graphics, video editing, and as temporary storage for 4K and Blu-Ray videos. The SSD uses the PCIe 4.0 interface, which will allow it to interact with modern motherboards without restrictions. The latter also features its own heatsink on the M.2 slot to effectively cool the SSD. The guaranteed volume of overwritten data (TBW) is 600 TB, which is a good indicator for models in the budget segment.
